Conservation Scientist Position Summary
The Wyoming Chapter of the Nature Conservancy seeks a conservation scientist to join our team. Strong candidates will have previous experience and background with terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, species and ecology of Wyoming/Western US, GIS/remote sensing/spatial modeling, and statistics. Candidates with PhD or Masters plus equivalent experience preferred. The scientist will be expected to develop collaborative research partnerships across Wyoming to enhance the reach and efficacy of the science program, to lead scientific surveys, monitoring and research, and to support existing research. S/he will work closely with Chapter staff to provide necessary scientific information and analysis to support conservation and research priorities, statewide and regional ‘One Conservancy’ initiatives, as well as on-the-ground conservation projects. S/he will be expected to write and publish reports and peer-reviewed papers, and communicate research results effectively in written and oral form both within the scientific community and with a broader audience. S/he will help develop proposals in order to support research, as needed, and will engage with funders and donors to explain and promote ongoing or future work.
