We are currently accepting applications for an Environmental Scientist/Ecologist. Our ideal candidate will have a strong desire to pursue ecological assessments and project management as a career choice. This position will support ecological investigations, including wetland, stream and terrestrial environments as well as evaluation of environmental impacts for projects subject to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The successful candidate will support projects under the direction of senior ecologists and environmental scientists. The successful candidate can expect to receive assignments of increasing complexity commensurate with demonstrated technical and critical thinking skills and/or additional education.
Typical ecology project assignments will focus on a range of field evaluation tasks, such as delineation of jurisdictional wetlands, streams and other unique ecosystems, evaluation of potential impacts of proposed projects on aquatic or terrestrial ecosystems, preparing required permit documentation, or developing appropriate mitigation plans, or measures, that may be required to support permit or other project activities. NEPA project involvement will include analyses of environmental impacts of proposed project alternatives to support Categorical Exemptions, Environmental Assessments or Environmental Impact Statement findings.
We require a minimum of seven years of experience in ecology, environmental science, or NEPA, a BS in a related field, good written and verbal communication skills, strong work ethic, exceptional deductive reasoning skills and attention to detail. Coursework or experience related to biology, ecology (terrestrial or aquatic), forestry, soils or similar sciences provides an excellent foundation for this position. This Environmental Scientist/Ecologist will be based out of our Memphis, Nashville, or Knoxville, TN office.
