Eastern Nevada Landscape Coalition (ENLC) is currently seeking a recreation technician for our upcoming 2017 field season. Located in Ely, Nevada, ENLC is a non-profit conservation organization comprised of public, private, and non-profit partners dedicated to the restoration of Western ecosystems through collaborative partnerships. ENLC conducts a variety of vegetation, wildlife, travel management, and recreational monitoring projects throughout Nevada and surrounding states. ENLC is requesting applications for one (1) recreation/GIS technician.
RRECREATION TECHNICIAN MONITORING DUTIES: Technician will work alone mapping single track mountain bike trails and single track motorcycle trails in the Steptoe Valley portion of the Ely BLM District.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Applicants should have a recreation or natural resource degree with a strong emphasis on GIS, or a geography degree with a strong emphasis on GIS. The ideal applicant will have excellent GIS skills, mountain bike and dirt bike experience. The applicant must also have experience using a variety of GPS units, driving a 4WD pickup and be comfortable working in remote areas by themselves. Applicants should be able to operate an mountain bike and/or dirt bike for several hours at a time. Preferred applicants will be experienced with mountain bikes, dirt bikes, 4WD vehicles, pulling a trailer, GPS navigation, and have had a clean driving record for the past 3 years.
SALARY: $18-$20/hour depending on experience
SCHEDULE: Technician should be available to begin in early May and continue through late August or early September until the work is complete, whichever comes first. Work schedule will be four days on (10 hour days) three days off.
