As the Wildlife Specialist in this position, you will:
n order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. If qualifying based on education, a copy of your unofficial transcripts must be provided with your application.
A. A Bachelor's degree or higher degree in biological sciences that included at least 9 semester hours in such wildlife subjects as mammalogy, ornithology, animal ecology, wildlife management, or research courses in the field of wildlife biology; and at least 12 semester hours in zoology in such subjects as general zoology, invertebrate zoology, vertebrate zoology, comparative anatomy, physiology, genetics, ecology, cellular biology, parasitology, entomology, or research courses in such subjects (excess courses in wildlife biology may be used to meet the zoology requirements where appropriate); and at least 9 semester hours in botany or the related plant sciences. B. A combination of education and experience which includes courses equivalent to a major in biological sciences (i.e., at least 30 semester hours), with at least 9 semester hours in wildlife subjects, 12 semester hours in zoology, and 9 semester hours in botany or related plant science, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. A. I have at least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 level (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience must include activities such as: (1) ensuring the wildlife program is integrated into the organization's wildlife management planning process (2) managing the Geographical Information System (GIS) products to Environmental Management; (3) implementing process improvement techniques to effect change within and outside the environmental management community; and (4) developing installation regulations and pamphlets dealing with wildlife management.
B. I have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent doctoral degree or successfully completed 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree in a discipline directly related to the position. Such education provided me with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Note: You must submit copies of your transcripts.
C. A combination of specialized experience and graduate education. Note: To determine if you qualify by combining experience and education, compute your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the total experience required; then determine your education as a percentage of the total education required (only graduate education beyond 36 hours is creditable). Add the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100% to qualify. Note: You must submit copies of your transcripts
Part-Time or Unpaid Experience: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid work on the same basis as for paid experience. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. To receive credit for such experience you must indicate clearly the nature of the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the number of hours per week spent in such employment.
Education: Transcripts (unofficial) are required at the time of application to verify that you meet the educational requirements or substitution for this position. Only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education may be credited.
Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
