Associate Scientist - Natural Resources

Assist senior scientists in all areas of natural resources for wind and solar projects


  • Assist senior scientists with wetland delineations, bat and avian studies, mitigation planning and monitoring, permitting, plant identification
  • Technical writing for a variety of scientific documents
  • Assist with proposal completion, construction oversight, mapping, file organization, photolog creation and data management.
  • Working in wetlands, swamps, forest in adverse weather (hot, wet, etc.) conditions
  • Work long hours as well as hours out-side of the normal work day
  • Walking long distances while carrying equipment up to 30 lbs
  • Requires regular, frequent overnight travel through the southeast United States
  • Interact with clients
  • Make presentations
  • Develop marketing opportunities
  • Keeping current of ecological regulations

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in natural resource field and 2-5 years of experience in natural resources.

Preferred Qualifications/Skills

  • Wetland delineation, assessment and wetland permitting experience is required
  • Listed species including gopher tortoise permitting and relocation, environmental permitting of linear projects, land development and public/private projects experience is highly desirable
  • Capable of walking long distances in rough terrain
  • Capable of carrying a minimum of 30 lbs of equipment.
  • Ability to travel out of town with extended overnight travel required
  • Strong skills with Microsoft programs (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Exhibit good technical writing skills and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills to meet deadlines by prioritizing and multi-tasking
  • Positive attitude, flexible and able to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven atmosphere
