The Kennebec Estuary Land Trust (KELT) office is located in Bath, Maine. KELT’s mission is to conserve, restore and instill appreciation of the land and water resources of the Kennebec Estuary to benefit today’s communities and future generations. The C&E Coordinator position is office and field based, with fieldwork required throughout the nine towns in KELT’s services area (Bath, West Bath, Arrowsic, Georgetown, Woolwich, Bowdoinham, Dresden, Richmond, and Westport Island).  KELT’s communications include print materials and digital media to communicate to a wide audience (donors, businesses, adults, families, etc.) about land trust membership, programs, events, and project progress. KELT’s Education Program provides nature-based programs for adults, families, and students to connect people of all ages to the natural wonders of the Kennebec Estuary.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

This is a full-time position with responsibilities in general communications and education work. The C&E Coordinator reports to the Program Director to implement communication campaigns and database management as well as assist with educational programming and donor and member relationship tasks. Occasional travel may be necessary outside of the KELT service area.

General communications tasks include working with staff and board to:

  • create and implement strategies for communicating via print, newsletters, email, media outlets (social media and the press), events, presentations, and in-person conversations
  • design and produce print and online communications
  • support event planning
  • track progress and results including creating reports to share with staff and the board of directors
  • update and maintain KELT’s database with new or changing information on donor and volunteer information
  • build and maintain donor and volunteer relationships

Education work includes community and/or school programming. These tasks include:

  • assisting the Program Director to organize, publicize, and/or lead educational programs for adults, children, and families
  • helping to maintain and build partnerships with community organizations, businesses, individuals, and groups supporting outreach opportunities
  • teaching students with KELT’s nature-based educational programs at area schools, in multiple grades, either in the classroom or outdoors
  • coordinating with local educators to create, redesign, or use existing programming for students both in the classroom and outdoor field trips
