Natural Lands is a non-profit organization that saves open space, cares for nature, and connects people to the outdoors in eastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey. We’ve been at it since the early 1950s and, today, more than 2.5 million people live within five miles of lands under our permanent protection. 

The Conservation Easement Program Administrator is a full-time position that will oversee the conservation easement monitoring program, monitor easements, oversee easement administration and recordkeeping, and provide assistance with handling easement violations, amendments, waivers, and condemnations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the monitoring, administration, and enforcement of conservation easements, including
  • Recordkeeping, notification processes, and monitoring staff coordination surrounding the annual monitoring process;
  • Communications, both routine and enforcement-related, with easement landowners, government officials and staff, funders, prospective buyers, etc.;
  • Easement monitoring;
  • Database entry and report production;
  • Working with the Real Estate Accountant, maintain paper and electronic easement files pursuant to recordkeeping policy;
  • Coordinate the biannual easement committee meeting, including preparing the agenda and minutes, and providing summaries and statistics for the monitoring program;
  • Associated administrative duties with the above tasks;
  • Assists Conservation Easement Program Director with easement violations, amendments, waivers, and condemnations;
  • Assists Land Protection staff as time and necessity warrants;
  • Provides administrative and clerical functions; and,
  • Works on special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with two years’ work experience with real estate legal documents, or a Master’s Degree with one year of experience;
  • Experience using Microsoft Office programs;
  • Experience using databases, with Salesforce a plus;
  • Ability to successfully handle multiple projects simultaneously with good time management;
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Willingness and ability to assist and work with a wide variety of people;
  • Self-starter capable of working independently with a minimum of supervision;
  • A demonstrated enthusiastic and positive attitude; and
  • A passion for providing quality service.
  • Additional skills a plus, but not required:
  • common mid-Atlantic plant;
  • Experience using ArcGIS and ArcSDE software; and
  • Field experience with GPS equipment.

This is mostly an office-based position, requiring frequent sitting for long periods, with occasional periods of walking, standing, bending and reaching. The position requires use of the computer and the telephone and handling large printed materials. The position requires work at outdoor sites, including driving and walking and standing on uneven terrain.
