Energy Environmental group is actively seeking a Environmental Scientist for immediate employment on an Canton, Ohio transmission line linear construction project.

Job Description Summary:

Primary duties would include Environmental management/coordination of environmental compliance during construction of a power transmission line project in the Canton, Ohio Area. Responsibilities could include; mitigation plans, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), Spill Prevention Control and Counter-measurement Plans (SPCC), and other environmental compliance related documentation. In addition, the qualified applicant would be responsible for identification, documentation, and oversight of environment compliance during daily construction activity; corrective actions for compliance issues; conducting environmental training; SWPPP and SPCC monitoring; wetland identification and mitigation, wildlife management and restoration monitoring and implementation. The qualified applicant should be experienced in developing remedial mitigation solutions; agency coordination; mitigation planning and oversight for power transmission line construction.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of federal, state, and local environmental programs.
  • Keep compliance within Dust Control Stipulations.
  • Maintain and implement Storm Water Pollution Prevent Plans for the project.
  • Attend meetings with owners, proprietors, and governing agencies.
  • Coordinate daily with construction superintendents, foreman, and environmental staff to ensure overall environmental compliance for the Project
  • Communicates with government agencies, and construction compliance officers to ensure the construction of transmission line operations stay within project requirements.
  • Ensures the Installation of proper Erosion and Sediment control devices, flagging, and signage per project requirements to delineate environmental sensitive areas.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in biology, environmental science, natural resources, or related discipline required
  • Strong analytical and communications skills are a must
  • Able to work flexible hours & travel (estimated 20-40%)
  • Ability to work and perform tasks with minimal supervision
  • Able to interact effectively with internal and external clients
  • Strong oral and written communication skills required
  • Strong computer skills and a significant understanding of Microsoft office applications
  • US citizenship required
  • Valid driver’s license is required for business travel
  • Must be comfortable in both an office and field environment, as assignment priorities may change
  • Strong working knowledge of SWPPP programs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience working with federal and state environmental regulatory agencies, examples of agencies are the EPA, BLM, USFS, FWM, and/or others.
  • Advanced proficiency and knowledge with computers.
  • Storm Water General Permit/Compliance/NPDES experience.
