Forest Research Technician

Acquire, process, analyze, and document field and geospatial data collections in support of a wide variety of silviculture and forest ecology projects, including landscape simulations of future forest conditions and long-term responses of forests to adaptive silvicultural treatments. Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience) Bachelor’s degree and one-year experience with forest ecological data collection, including coarse woody debris and dendroecological sampling. Experience with programming in R. Knowledge of image processing from remote sensing data. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of a variety of geospatial software packages.Knowledge of principles, practices, terminology, and trends in silviculture and forest ecology research. Experience processing dendrochronlogical data and processing vector, raster, and point cloud datasets. Ability to travel to variety of work sites both on and off campus.

Desirable Qualifications Experience working with consulting foresters and landowners in region.
