Starting salary up to $26.60/hour plus an additional $0.90/Hr. bilingual premium pay for bilingual positions*

Sonoma County Regional Parks is hiring multiple Park Program Assistant - Extra-Help (intermittent) positions in the Community Engagement Division. Park Program Assistants (PPAs) provide assistance with educational, administrative, and support service activities. PPAs may also assist with oversight recreational facilities and visitor centers.

Note: One or more years of experience providing programming in parks in the areas of lifeguard services, interpretation, outreach, environmental education and/or recreational programs is required to become a Park Program Assistant.

Ideal Park Program Assistant candidates will have:

  • Experience in coordinating, implementing, and leading quality educational and recreational programming for diverse audiences
  • Experience developing and leading trainings, coordinating events, marketing programs, and representing organizations at meetings
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Organization skills necessary to manage multiple priorities
  • The ability to be self-motivated and goal-oriented

Lifeguard Services - Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Lifeguard Services PPAs will provide support in an administrative role by assisting with daily operations including recruitment, training, scheduling, and incident command. The position will be helping with the Spring Lake Water Park, as well as special events, and aquatics summer programs.

For Lifeguard Services, the following are highly desired, but not required:

  • ASHI Instructor certification
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification
  • EMT certification
  • 1,500 hours of lifeguard experience

Environmental Education and Outreach

Education and Outreach PPAs will support, develop, and/or deliver environmental education, interpretative, recreation, and outreach programs and special events for a variety of audiences.  They will assist with program marketing, evaluation, serve as a lead for interns, and other program and visitor center administrative duties.
