Cabrillo National Monument is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and community-minded Community Volunteer Ambassador (CVA) to help strengthen one of the National Park Service's most innovative volunteer programs.

This is far more than a traditional volunteer coordination internship. The CVA will help expand community partnerships, develop new volunteer recruitment strategies, improve volunteer experiences, and lead projects that create lasting impact throughout the park. Working alongside the Volunteer Coordinator, the CVA will collaborate with park staff across multiple divisions while gaining hands-on experience in volunteer management, community engagement, project management, partnership development, interpretation, and public service.

The CVA will have the opportunity to develop and lead meaningful projects rather than simply assist with day-to-day operations. From coordinating volunteer events and improving onboarding experiences to building relationships with colleges, nonprofits, and community organizations, the CVA will help shape the future of Cabrillo National Monument's volunteer program.

Professional development is a major focus of this position. The CVA will receive individualized mentorship, participate in career development opportunities, collaborate with staff throughout the park, and build skills that prepare them for careers with the National Park Service and other public service organizations.

Previous Community Volunteer Ambassadors have gone on to permanent careers with the National Park Service, making this an exceptional opportunity for someone interested in conservation, public service, education, volunteer management, or community engagement.
