Job Summary: The experienced Aquatic Herbicide Applicator will perform outdoor field operations associated with the treatment and inspection preserves, wetlands, and natural areas to control invasive plants. Top Pay for Qualified Experienced Aquatic Herbicide Applicators. Assist land clearing and planting on restoration projects. Help restore Florida native environments with planting and seeding along with regular exotic maintenance.
Work Duties: The majority of the work is conducted in wetlands, and natural areas throughout the Treasure Coast. Application of herbicides is performed using spray packs, but other management activities include chainsaw, trimmer, and machete work. Knowledge of native plants and wildlife as well as experience in natural area restoration work is a plus. Work will involve the use of 4-wheel drive trucks, and trailers depending on the site. Experience with trailers is preferred. The ability to carry heavy loads (< 50 lbs) while traversing uneven terrain is a plus.
What do you need?
- A Commercial Applicators License issued by the State of Florida is preferred for this position.
- A year or more of experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of FLEPPC listed plants.
- Must be willing to work outdoors and experience towing trailers preferred.
- Excellent communication skills are a plus.
- Must have chainsaw experience
- Degree in related science preferred
- Aptitude in using various hand tools and trimmers
- Ability to follow established procedures and practices
- The ability to traverse difficult terrain, shoot in tree and wetland locations
- Commitment to all health and safety guidelines
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Mechanically inclined
- Ability to swim
- Ability to trailer and operate skid steer/excavator (preferred)
- The work requires strenuous physical exertion and the employee may be required to drive, stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel and crouch for extended periods of time, as well as see, talk, hear and use hands and arms to grasp, handle, reach and feel. Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and pass motor vehicle record search
- Occasional travel around Florida is part of job duties
- Must pass pre-employment background screen and drug test
