REPORTS TO: Wildlife Coordinator and Health Staff Manager

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES Wildlife Tech duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Cleaning and feeding of in house wild animals; variety of mammalian and avian species
  • Hand feeding of orphaned wildlife, including esophageal tube feeding
  • Proper cage set up and break down in between animals
  • Sweeping, mopping and stocking of wildlife area
  • Providing a stress free environment for wild animals
  • Assisting with intake exams of incoming animals
  • Assisting with transport of rehabilitation candidates to other rehabilitation facilities
  • Perform all other functions and special details as assigned by supervisor, Veterinarian, Sr. Vice President and President/CEO

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS  Must have hands on experience and basic knowledge of wildlife triage, behavior and restraint, such as species identification, diets, common illnesses as well as proper sanitation and disinfection Must be able to follow directions Must comply with Pasadena Humane Society’s policies and procedures Must possess strong common sense, focus and be able to work efficiently in fast paced environments and use a systematic approach Must be able to juggle various tasks at the same time Must have patience and compassion for a wide spectrum of animals of various temperaments and conditions Must be able to lift up to 50lbs Must have High School graduate diploma or GED Must be eligible to work in the U.S. Must be at least 21 years of age Must have a valid California Driver’s License Must be able to work at least two high seasons (spring and summer) Experience in wildlife care (preferred) Current tetanus shot and proof of health insurance required Preference given to CETs

REQUIREMENTS • Must interact positively with supervisor, management, coworkers, volunteers and the public to promote a team effort and maintain a positive and professional approach • Must come to work regularly and on time, to follow directions, to take criticism, to get along with coworkers and supervisors, to treat coworkers, supervisors and members/guests with respect and courtesy and to refrain from abusive, insubordinate and/or violent behavior • Must participate in Mandatory All Staff Meeting every third Thursday of the month

WORK SCHEDULE Must be able to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, weekends and holidays WORKING CONDITIONS. Fast-paced environment. Exposure to numerous animals including those with uncertain dispositions

EXAMINATION Qualified applicants will go through an interview process that will consist of an initial assessment of an applicant’s knowledge and background. Applicants who pass the initial interview process when be contacted for a working interview where skills and abilities will be assessed.
