Position

106 Group has an immediate opening for an experienced Proposal Writer. The Proposal Writer is responsible for leading the development and delivery of assigned high-quality proposals, from solicitation to post-submission follow-up, within a consulting company. The ideal candidate is an organized, creative, and strategic thinker, and a master communicator with a good eye for detail. We are looking for an individual who will effectively collaborate with colleagues to strategize and develop winning proposals. Salary

106 Group offers a competitive salary and benefits package, commensurate with experience. The base salary range for this position is $55,000 to $70,000 commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

The Proposal Writer is responsible for overseeing the following proposal processes:

  • Analyze RFP requirements, support Go/No Go process
  • Support team to evaluate proposal metrics with goal of continually improving processes and streamlining efficiencies
  • Assist with proposal scoping and pricing strategies and analysis in collaboration with colleagues
  • Ensure on-time submission of assigned proposals and qualifications
  • Participate in writing/editing/rewriting efforts
  • Identify and coordinate proposal graphical content and formatting
  • Assist with tracking and follow-up of submitted proposals
  • Analyze and evaluate proposal metrics with goal of continually improving processes and streamlining efficiencies. Update proposal materials and stock content.

Requirements

Our ideal candidate would possess a mix of the following skills and abilities:

  • A degree in Business, Marketing, Communication, Technical Writing, English or closely related field. Alternately, a degree in a field related to our work in cultural resources management, cultural heritage planning, or interpretation and exhibit design (ex., History, Architecture, Anthropology, Education, etc.)
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience (relevant experience might include proposal writing, grant writing, technical writing related to sales or promotions, etc.)
  • A basic understanding of and/or interest in the fields of cultural resource management (archaeology, historic preservation, environmental law), natural or heritage resource interpretation, and planning (community, natural/cultural resource planning, etc.)
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and proficiency with Microsoft Word formatting
  • Experience defining scopes of work and estimating project costs
  • Ability to multi-task and balance short-term deadlines with longer-term initiatives
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively with a variety of technical experts
  • Able to think creatively and convey complex ideas clearly and succinctly to non-technical audience
  • Client service-oriented with aptitude for relationship building, sales, and closing the deal
  • Detail-oriented writer and editor comfortable with both technical and sales language
  • Able to communicate in a variety of voices (technical, promotional)
  • A can-do attitude, resourcefulness, and drive to support our work in cultural heritage and cultural resources

Additional Experience Valued or Preferred

  • Experience working with architectural, planning, or engineering firms
  • Experience responding to Federal solicitations for professional services
  • Experience with grant-writing
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign
  • Other pertinent skills to support a range of consulting company tasks and enable flexibility in task assignments, e.g., paralegal, operations, project management.
