POST-GRADUATE PUBLIC INTEREST FELLOWSHIP

Legal Fellow Position

Trustees for Alaska is accepting applications for our full-time Legal Fellow position.  This is a two-year attorney position in Anchorage, Alaska, starting in September 2026 and continuing through September 2028.  The Legal Fellow is responsible for the following:

  • Working with staff attorneys to research, develop, and implement legal and other strategies
  • Assisting with various aspects of litigation, including substantive work and other tasks
  • Assisting with a diverse range of work that may include supporting coalition engagement in agency decision-making processes as well as legislative work
  • Assisting Trustees with administrative, communications, media, and fundraising tasks as needed

Candidate Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have recently graduated from law school and completed a judicial clerkship or otherwise obtained some post-graduation legal experience.  The position requires the attorney to be licensed in Alaska before, or shortly after, starting work at Trustees.  Strong candidates for the Legal Fellow position will ideally have: 

  • Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and creatively
  • Willingness to learn and incorporate feedback
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a collaborative, team-based environment
  • Environmental and administrative law experience or knowledge (preferred)
