POSITION: Hourly, fully remote, 30 hours per week, One year position with the potential to renew.

PROGRAM BACKGROUND:
MARSB’s mission is twofold.

1) To conserve and wisely manage the region’s wild seed resources, through scientific sampling, ethical collection, and banking and curation to national standards. MARSB’s efforts will increase the availability of genetically appropriate native seed across the Mid-Atlantic for use in conservation, land management, ecological restoration, and horticulture.
2) To encourage and actively contribute to the development of the Native Plant Material supply chain throughout the mid-Atlantic region. The supply chain in the mid-Atlantic, though it has existed for over forty years, is significantly underdeveloped and largely informal. MARSB seeks to stimulate the development of a more mature, sustainable supply chain.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under the direct supervision of and working closely with the Executive Director and other MARSB staff, this position will handle an array of administrative tasks including but not limited to assisting with communications, proofreading and editing web content, researching, filing for certificates, filing forms for insurance, outreaching to volunteers, helping develop simple forms and questionnaires, fielding email inquiries, assisting with grant applications and reports, and light bookkeeping/financial reporting.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Communication Skills
a. Strong written and verbal skills.
b. Ability to draft, edit, and proofread emails, reports, website content, etc. with grammatical accuracy and attention to detail and graphic standards
c. Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including board, staff, volunteers, and donors.
d. Ability to foster customer relationships with native plant material producers and end users and ensure all stakeholders have a positive experience and are likely to continue engagement with MARSB. 

2. Self-Management, Time Management, and Organization

a. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple projects, issues, meetings, and deadlines simultaneously and effectively
b. Ability to enter data and maintain systems with accuracy; assist to keep stakeholder data organized and up to date
c. Ability to identify needs and take initiative to suggest, support, and develop systems that improve efficiency and operations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
● Proficiency with Google, Microsoft, website platforms, listserv platforms, and social media platforms
● Experience with government and foundation grant applications and reporting
● Experience with light bookkeeping; Quickbooks entry
● Experience with ADP or other payroll platforms
● Experience with nonprofit administration and operations
● Familiarity with conservation, biodiversity, land management, restoration ecology, or similar focus areas
● Previous work in any of these areas:
   o Government agencies
   o Legislative affairs
   o Advocacy organizations (e.g., Sierra Club, NRDC)
   o Congressional offices

TERMS: $30.00 hourly, 30 hours per week. One year position with the potential to renew.  Vacation and sick leave.
