Earth Conservation Corps is a nonprofit youth development and environmental service organization. The Earth Conservation Corps provides hands-on environmental education, job training, and community service programs for people of all ages from diverse backgrounds, with an emphasis on serving opportunity youth.
Earth Conservation Corps seeks a highly-motivated, organized, professional, and creative individual to assist our staff with running the day-to-day administrative responsibilities of the organization.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Reports to: President / CEO
Purpose: To coordinate and manage the day-to-day administrative needs of Earth Conservation Corps. The Office Manager / Administrative Assistant will be in charge of ensuring the office spaces are ready and capable for program operation.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
The Office Manager / Administrative Assistant would assist the President / CEO and staff with all administrative responsibilities for the organization, including but not limited to:
- Reading and responding to the admin email.
- Opening and sorting mail at all offices.
- Ensuring that phone lines are operating and being answered.
- Depositing checks.
- Assisting accounting with paying bills.
- Managing files.
- Assisting with coordinating school groups and events.
- Responsible for overseeing the operations of facilities.
- Serving as the main point of contact with vendors.
- Assisting with data collection forms.
- Supporting AmeriCorps member administration, including:
- Ensuring all computers and equipment are in good working order and receiving regular maintenance.
- Coordinating the scheduling of rooms for event rentals, as well as billing for such engagements.
- Greeting all visitors to the office, including ensuring that information and public information are available.
- Assisting with vehicle and boat registration and maintenance.

Providing information and narrative content for accurate program reports, grant reporting, applications, and related data.

Other duties as necessary to further the Earth Conservation Corps mission.
Qualifications
The Administrative Assistant must possess the following:
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-starter who works well independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple tasks patiently and professionally.
- Ability to think big picture to strategize and plan as well as perform routine daily tasks.
- Exhibit professional standards of presentation, punctuality, professional courtesy, and discretion.
- Experience working with youth ages 14-24.
- Experience working in diverse settings (public schools, urban communities, under-resourced communities, etc.) with diverse populations.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Proficiency with computers including: Microsoft Office, databases, and Google docs.
- Supporting and acting in accordance with Earth Conservation Corps’ mission.
- Must be willing to travel to each of the Earth Conservation Corps three campuses.
- Ability to drive.
Schedule: The Administrative Assistant role is an in-person full-time role.
Pay: This is a contract position and will pay $20 an hour.
Location: The Earth Conservation Corps has three campuses. The Administrative Assistant would have a primary work space at the Monique Johnson Center (1520 1st Street SE) but would need to spend time at the Matthew Henson Center (2000 Half Street SW) and at the Wings Campus (3190 Oak Hill Drive) as well.
