ADVANCEMENT ASSOCIATE
SUMMARY:
Under general supervision of the Director of Development and the Director of Operations, the Advancement Associate will support and assist in development, special events and donor communications activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide administrative support to the Director of Development including; donor communications, scheduling, event assistance, membership management, etc.
- Assist with management of the Center’s grants program:
- Research foundations and other potential grant sources and qualifying criteria.
- Compile necessary information for the application process through collaboration with the Director of Development and other staff.
- Draft, complete, and submit grant applications according to application requirements in a timely manner.
- Coordinate the monitoring and evaluation of programs and projects that are grant funded. Completes internal and funder reports as necessary.
- Assist with the planning, implementation, and execution of fundraising and educational events to include the annual gala, a concert fundraiser in the spring, Owls by Moonlight programs in the fall/winter, volunteer staff events and more.
- Lead the gift acknowledgement process to provide timely and appropriate recognition of Center Donors.
- Advance the Center’s Membership program by generating renewal letters, tracking and reporting Membership statistics, and providing appropriate interaction with visiting Members throughout the year.
- Manage support volunteer staff as required, including scheduling, training, assignments and supervision of duties.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1-2 years’ experience with grant writing
- Ability to work professionally with the public and relate to diverse audiences
- Excellent organization and communication skills (both oral and written)
- Self-starter capable of working independently or as a team member in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment requiring critical thinking and multi-tasking.
- Basic computer fluency in programs including (but not limited to) Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, ticketing software and Donor management software.
- Reliable transportation
- Some evening and weekend hours required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- College degree
- 1-2 years’ experience with donor management software
- An interest in avian science and conservation
- Desire to learn about donor communications and non-profit management
COMPENSATION:
This is a full-time, salaried position with a starting salary of $30,000. Health insurance benefits, paid vacation, and a regional reciprocity pass to area attractions are available after completing 90 days of service. The hours include, but are not limited to, Monday - Friday, 8:30AM-5PM.
