About Camp Skylemar

Camp Skylemar, a summer camp in Naples, Maine is eager to hire an assistant director for our outdoor education program. Since 1948, Skylemar has provided transformative educational experiences in Maine's Sebago Lakes Region. Each summer, we care for 270 boys and 125 staff from 35+ states and 13 countries.

Skylemar offers a blend of athletics, outdoor education, and leadership development programming. Parents chose Skylemar because they believe in our education for children. Our pedagogy centers around the phrase, "Cool2Care." As soon as children step foot on camp, they are taught to care about themselves, others, and the environment. We are looking to hire an educator who shares these beliefs and is excited to be apart of our mission to positively impact children.

Why Work at Camp Skylemar?

  • Be part of a mission driven and fun-filled community
  • Free tuition for family members of employees
  • Positively impact children from diverse backgrounds
  • Design and lead your own outdoor-ed programming
  • Work for a family owned and operated business since 1948
  • Free housing, food, laundry

Responsibilities of Assistant Director - Outdoor Education

Working alongside the Director of Outdoor Education, candidates should have experience with environmental education and guiding trips. At Skylemar, each camper can participate in the "SkyPines" program, where cabins camp next to Trickey Pond on our property, cook meals over a fire, and sleep in a tent. Beyond assisting this program, applicants would guide hiking trips in the Presidential Range of the White Mountains, Tumbledown Mountain, and Pleasant Mountain. There will also be opportunities for hour-long activity sessions where the assistant director can lead wilderness skills, nature walks, foraging and more. We hope candidates will be excited to immerse themselves in all aspects of Skylemar. Whether serving meals at lunch or hosting a talent show, Skylemar offers many opportunities for staff members to "jump in" and help educate our many children.
