Dokken’s environmental branch has an opening for an Associate Wildlife Biologist starting in the summer or fall of 2025 (start date is negotiable).

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in wildlife biology, can lead complex biological projects/permits, and works well in a team environment.

Dokken provides environmental planning and permitting, engineering, and construction support services for local, state, and federally funded projects including bridges, roads, trails, water/irrigation systems, transit systems, etc.

Dokken has an in-house environmental team of biologists, arborists, archaeologists, noise/air experts, and environmental planners.

Responsibilities include: conducting literature research; completing field surveys to collect field data; collaborating with clients, engineers, and regulatory authorities; developing complex biological solutions; securing environmental permits and approvals; assisting with the preparation and implementation of mitigation and monitoring reporting programs; monitoring construction work; ensuring compliance with the Federal and State Endangered Species Acts, Clean Water Act, and NEPA/CEQA; assisting with overall environmental planning; and, writing technical reports including but not limited to Natural Environment Studies, Jurisdictional Delineations, Biological Assessments, and Restoration/Re-vegetation Plans. This position will also involve assisting with proposals.

Qualifications:  Minimum of BA or BS in biology, ecology, or a related biology field. Applicants should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field, and be familiar with California flora and fauna. Applicants should have a good working knowledge of federal and California laws (e.g. the Federal and State Endangered Species Acts, NEPA, and CEQA). Previous experience with environmental studies and GPS/GIS applications are strongly preferred. Training will be provided as needed.

Position will be based in Folsom, CA with occasional travel throughout California.
