Service Position Summary: From February to April, this position will support field trip facilitation, pilot our new visitors lobby program/engagement, and support summer camp as needed. From May to August, the Summer Camp Assistant Director will serve alongside the Summer Camp Director to coordinate, prepare, and facilitate 10 weeks of summer camp programming to 500+ campers ages 5-12 and Junior Counselors ages 13-17.

Essential Functions (Primary Responsibilities):
eeCorps members engage with their Host Site organizations to develop, implement, and enhance programs, projects, and activities that will create progress towards eeCorps’ and Bluff Lake Nature Center’s goals. These duties include:

  • Facilitate field trips, visitors lobby space, and summer camp programming
  • Serve with the Summer Camp Director to develop curriculum and programs
  • Support the Summer Camp Director with hiring, coordinating, and supervising the summer camp counselors and junior counselors over the 10 week summer camp
  • Track progress and collect evaluation data for the program’s performance measures
  • Attend all required eeCorps/AmeriCorps orientations, meetings, and trainings
  • Complete and submit all necessary eeCorps paperwork and reports by predetermined deadlines
  • Some local travel required and occasional statewide travel possible

Marginal Functions (Secondary Responsibilities):

  • Assist in organization of paperwork and program supplies
  • Assist in keeping site facilities clean and updated
  • Evaluate education programs using assessment data from students, teacher/student feedback, current best practices in pedagogy and science standards, as well as observations and first-hand teaching experience
  • Support relationships with community
