EPWMA borders the western edge of Eglin Air Force Base in the Florida Panhandle. The WMA conserves nearly 5,000 acres of unique habitat and contains more than 13 different natural communities. EPWMA provides lots of exciting opportunities to encounter many different rare and threatened species.
The AMBBIS Restoration Team will consist of five members (four biological restoration technicians, one part-time summer/fall intern, and one crew leader) supporting the lead wildlife biologist and wildlife technician. Priority work by the Team centers on habitat restoration of RFS breeding wetlands. The Team also supports the RFS monitoring and head-starting program. Additional duties may include monitoring and restoration activities for the Florida bog frog, gopher tortoise, and eastern indigo snake.

Team Members may also assist the Biologist and Technicians in RFS breeding season occupancy surveys (egg searching, drift fencing, dip-netting, nighttime spotlighting surveys, etc.), rearing larvae for the head-starting program, conducting survey for other imperiled species, and supporting the prescribed fire efforts of Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and other partners. Team Members work closely with the Wildlife Biologist and communicate with partners in the GCPEP landscape. Schedules and on-site work locations can change often during the work week.
Qualifications: Applicants must have at a minimum, an AA or BS in biology, ecology, natural resources management, or related field. Applicants should also be in good physical condition and comfortable walking long distances on difficult terrain or wading in shallow water while carrying heavy equipment for short distances, as well as occasional night-time and solo work. They should be familiar with UTV operation and 4-wheel drive vehicles. Additional preferred qualifications include experience working closely with a small team under very adverse conditions (insects/snakes, extreme heat, wet conditions). A valid U.S. driver’s license is required. Full-time position applicants must have at least one year of related work experience or related experience in land management and is preferred to have basic NWCG wildland firefighter and sawyer qualifications of S130, S190, and S212, as well as experience with herbicide application.

The full-time position requires 40hrs/week, includes overtime and a benefits package, and is funded for up to 2 years pending additional funding. The part-time position allows for up to 34.75 hrs/week and is funded through December 31st, 2025. Housing is not provided.
