Rocky Mountain National Park is recruiting Biological Science Technicians for the 2026 season which runs from approximately April to October. Summer positions may be filled in various natural resource programs including vegetation management, forest health, large mammal management, and research program activities. Within the vegetation management program, multiple crews specialize in invasive species management, native plant revegetation, greenhouse and nursery operations, rare plant monitoring, and volunteer and conservations corps coordination. Work often involves extensive hiking or camping for several days at a time in the backcountry. Positions at the GS5 level are typically crew member positions.
This is an exciting and unique opportunity to work in the 415 sq miles of mountains, forests, meadows, lakes, and alpine tundra that make up Rocky Mountain National Park, with 95% designated wilderness and 60 mountain peaks above 12,000 ft.
Typical start dates for these positions at April and May while the season typically runs until September or October.
Note that the announcement on USAJOBS is a combined posting for many park units that are alos hiring for the summer season. Applicants may apply to multiple locations. If interested in working at Rocky Mountain National Park, be sure to select "Estes Park, CO" and/or "Grand Lake, CO" as locations for which you are interested in being considered. Estes park is the gateway town to the east side of the park and may fill up to 22 positions from this announcement. Grand Lake is the west side duty location and may be filling 1 or 2 vacancies.
The job posting is open until 12/15/2025, or until 1000 applications have been received, which may be sooner than the posted closing date. The pay for Rocky Mountain National Park positions at the Estes Park location is approximately $21.55 per hour (more than what is posted on the job announcement due to Denver locality pay).
