The Biological Technician will identify invasive plant species and map infestations using GPS instrumentation. Biologist works in two person crews and will perform simple routine tasks under close supervision or from detailed procedures. Work is checked in progress or on completion. This work will require strenuous physical exertion, such as walking over uneven, slick surfaces while carrying heavy packs. This position requires camping onsite and company vehicle is provided for field work.

*Temporary position from April 2024 through October 2024*

Responsibilites: 

  • Use ArcGIS Field Collection apps to collect data.
  • Capable of identifying non-native invasive plants (noxious weeds) within multiple habitats in Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah.
  • Safe operation of a four-wheel drive field truck.
  • Ability to work in range of temperatures and wind conditions
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • At least one year of college in Biology or related field.
  • 1 year field experience of biological field studies.
  • Must be able to pass a standard background check.
  • Skilled use of topographic maps, compass, GPS units, and other field equipment is required.
