Campus & Facilities Manager

Salary $32,00-$33,600 salaried (32 hrs/wk) or $19.50 hourly (24 hours/wk)

The Campus and Facilities Manager ensures that NorthWoods campus, facilities, and equipment serve our mission, projects and programs. The NorthWoods main facilities include a main lodge, staff cabin(s), bunkhouse, conservation barn, woodshop, and an outdoor kitchen. The campus includes a demonstration forest and trails, open to the public year-round. The Manager works independently, and coordinates with other staff and service providers as needed. The Manager will have opportunities to work
with staff or crews to accomplish larger projects. There is room to grow in this position; NorthWoods will provide training and education opportunities to advance knowledge, experience and certifications related to facilities, trails, and equipment management.

Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • Facilities maintenance
  • Seasonal groundskeeping (snow removal, lawns, trail clearing)
  • Firewood processing, Woodboiler operations
  • Vehicle fleet maintenance and coordination
  • Equipment maintenance/repair and coordination
  • Support for NorthWoods events, programs, projects and operations, as needed

Qualifications:

  • Experience in facilities and vehicle maintenance
  • Experience in small carpentry projects
  • Professional, responsible, and reliable
  • Communicates well with others
  • Certification in Game of Logging 1-2 or comparable chainsaw training, or willingness
    to gain certification
  • Able to work in an outdoor setting, in all weather
  • Able to perform physically demanding tasks, including climbing a ladder, lifting heavy objects, etc.

Preferred Skills/Knowledge:

  • Small Engine/Equipment repair
  • ATV/Snowmobile operation
  • Tractor and implements (brush-hog)

Possible Training Opportunities:

  • Game of Logging, Chainsaw Safety and Certifications
  • Trail Maintenance
  • Forestry Management
  • In-house training for ATV, Snowmobile, Tractor, etc.

Employment Period: This is a year-round position.

Workweek: This position is open as either A) full-time position or B) part-time position. Work is primarily weekdays. Occasional evening, weekend and holiday shifts may be required.

Compensation/Benefits:

A) Full-Time (32 Hours) Salary Position with Benefits
$32,000 – $33,600 annual salary. 32 hours per week average. Benefits: Health insurance, medical expense reimbursement program ($1000/year), ROTH or SIMPLE IRA retirement contribution with 3% employer match, 2 weeks paid time off(increases annually), 11 paid holidays, annual cost of living adjustment, 1 hour/week paid winter wellness.

B) Part-Time Position with limited Benefits
$19.50 hourly pay. 24 hours per week average. Benefits: medical expense reimbursement program ($500/year), ROTH or SIMPLE IRA retirement contribution with 3% employer match, PTO accrues based on hours worked, annual cost of living adjustment, 1 hour/week paid winter wellness.

Paid bi-weekly.
Employment at NorthWoods includes personal use of outdoor equipment, the wood shop, and access to a gear lending library.
Staff benefits include discounted program participation & camps attendance for family.

Housing: On-campus, shared housing may be available.
