Leads the ANHC Stewardship Section with responsibility for strategic planning, prioritization and implementation of conservation efforts on natural areas across diverse ecosystems. Responsible for hiring and directing staff in conservation implementation efforts. Serves as real estate officer for lands acquired for inclusion in the ANHC System of Natural Areas. Negotiates with sellers and donors of property throughout the state; prepares and reviews real estate documents (purchase agreements, deeds, easements and title commitments) and reports acquisition information to the commission, supervisors and auditors. Manages and maintains property records on matters of property ownership, including but not limited to minerals, boundary disputes, access and right-of-way. Initiates, negotiates, and finalizes contracts for services including boundary surveys, appraisals, appraisal reviews, and title searches according to state procurement regulations and agency protocols. Prepares and administers the annual budget for acquisition projects and for operation, maintenance, salary and equipment needs in the ANHC Stewardship Section. Works with other government agencies and stewardship partners for the collaborative management of ANHC natural areas. Maintains and operates specialized scientific and land management equipment. Recommends and oversees capital improvement projects that facilitate ecosystem restoration and, when appropriate, outdoor recreation.
