A Communications & Content Specialist helps tell the story of how clean water, environmental stewardship, and community care come together in everything we do. This role blends creativity and strategy by crafting clear, engaging messages and producing visuals that connect people to our mission.

The ideal candidate is a thoughtful communicator who loves translating complex ideas into relatable stories. You bring curiosity, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence in every project.

The Day to Day:

  • Write & Edit: Create persuasive, audience-focused copy for websites, newsletters, press releases, ads, brochures, and reports.
  • Translate Complex Ideas: Turn technical or scientific concepts into clear, accessible, and engaging stories.
  • Collaborate: Work with the Government & Public Relations team and internal departments to plan and deliver integrated campaigns that reflect our mission and values.
  • Create: Design digital and print materials (graphics, infographics, templates, and branded assets) that are visually consistent and on-brand.
  • Share: Produce and edit short- and long-form videos for social media, YouTube, and other digital channels.
  • Connect: Manage social media calendars, draft posts, and engage with our community online.
  • Evaluate: Monitor web and campaign analytics to assess what’s working and adjust for stronger results.
  • Guide: Support staff in using consistent tone, messaging, and visuals that align with brand standards.
  • Innovate: Stay current on trends in copywriting, storytelling, and digital communications to continuously improve how we engage with our community.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Education: High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field strongly preferred; or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience: One year of experience in communications, marketing, or a creative field required. 3-5 years of experience preferred.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt tone and content for different audiences and platforms.
  • Ability to plan, create, and execute large scale communications campaigns.
  • Expertise with design and video tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar).
  • Familiarity with managing social media accounts, content calendars, and targeted digital ad campaigns.
  • Strategic thinker who can connect daily creative work to organizational goals.
  • Collaborative approach with strong interpersonal and project management skills.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and continuous improvement.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s license within 30 days of full-time employment and be insurable under District standards.

The Schedule

This position is full-time, typically working Monday through Friday, with some flexibility for special events, photo/video shoots, or campaign launches. Hybrid work is available but must be able to work on site 2-3 days a week

Pay Range

The pay range for this role is $80,392.00 - $112,548.80. Hiring salary depends on qualifications but generally falls within the minimum and midpoint of the pay range.
