Job Summary & Core Responsibilities
GALT is seeking a Communications and Outreach Coordinator to support and promote the organization’s mission, visibility, and resource goals. Working closely with the advancement team, this position plays a key role in developing clear, engaging communications and outreach efforts for internal and external stakeholders, including donors, landowners, event attendees, partners, and others.
This is a remote position based in Alabama, Georgia, or the Chattanooga area, with occasional travel required, including some weekends and overnight trips.
As a nonprofit, staff members often assist other departments to help accomplish our mission. The following is a non-exhaustive list of the primary duties of the position:
- Develop, edit, and schedule regular social media posts to various platforms
- Maintain and update GALT’s website to ensure relevant, timely information
- Create and/or update brochures, press releases, informational packets, and other written materials
- Support fundraising efforts, particularly communications around the Year-End Giving campaign
- Assist with GALT’s annual magazine, The Conservationist
- Assist with the creation and maintenance of GALT’s signage
- Create engaging quarterly e-newsletters
- Assist with swag inventory and other marketing materials
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in GALT’s CRM system (Little Green Light)
- Lead and support the planning and execution of engaging in-person and virtual events
- Ensure consistency in messaging, branding, and tone across all communications and outreach efforts
- Other tasks and responsibilities that may be assigned
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree, preferably in natural resources, communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to communicate clearly across platforms
- Interest in and passion for the natural world and land conservation, with the ability to communicate effectively about these topics
- Experience managing social media platforms and creating digital content, including posts, captions, reels, and basic graphics (preferred)
- Familiarity with communications and design tools such as Canva, InDesign, Illustrator, Mailchimp, Squarespace, Little Green Light, and/or the ability to learn new systems
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Proven ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a remote team
- Comfortable spending time outdoors
- Ability to travel as needed, including occasional weekend and overnight travel
- Valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and eligible for coverage under the organization’s auto policy
