About Chattahoochee National Park Conservancy
Chattahoochee National Park Conservancy, Inc. (CNPC) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 corporation. CNPC is the official friends group for the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area (CRNRA), a series of fifteen park units along 48 miles of the Chattahoochee River in metro Atlanta, totaling 7,000 acres of land and water. Our mission is to build community, enrich lives, and catalyze support to ensure a sustainable national park for future generations.
Position Description
The Communications Associate is a part-time role supporting CNPC’s Marketing & Membership team by creating compelling digital content, gathering on-the-ground stories throughout CRNRA, and strengthening community engagement. This role blends creativity and organization, and is ideal for someone who loves being outdoors and connecting people to the mission of supporting and enhancing CRNRA.
Responsibilities:
Content Creation & Social Media (70%)
- Capture photo and video content in CRNRA using phone and/or CNPC-issued camera, including attending multiple monthly events
- Assisting with creation and management of a seasonal content calendar for social media and email platforms, including developing content that is informative, approachable, and occasionally trend-forward
- Gather, tag, and organize user-generated content (UGC), including securing permissions
- Utilize light graphic design skills in Adobe Express or Canva to create branded assets
- Write copy for CNPC website, blog, and social media platforms
Marketing & Membership Administration (30%)
- Pull monthly analytics from social media, email platforms, and website
- Build simple dashboards or monthly reports in Canva or Google Sheets
- Assist with digital ad coordination and performance review
- Assist with day-of CNPC event administration, including fundraisers, member events, and community outreach
Requirements:
- Experience creating content for social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn)
- Strong writing skills and ability to match CNPC’s approachable, mission-driven tone
- Comfort working outdoors in various park environments
- Basic photography and videography skills (phone-based acceptable, DSLR a plus)
- Passion for conservation, trails, outdoor recreation, or community engagement
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work, including to meetings, events, and programs in and outside of the park, and regular commuting to office
Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area or Atlanta outdoor community
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to proactively engage with staff, park users, and stakeholders
- Experience with volunteer events or nonprofits
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple small projects at once
- Experience with email marketing (Neon, MailChimp, Constant Contact, etc.) and social media management (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn)
Work Environment:
- Location: CRNRA consists of fifteen separate land units across north Metro Atlanta, with offices located at the Island Ford Unit of CRNRA in Sandy Springs. Travel is required (approximately 70%) to each unit for CNPC events and content creation.
- Schedule: Part Time, 20-25 hours per week
- Duration: 10-12 months
- Compensation: $20 per hour
