Collaborative Earth is looking for a thoughtful, hands-on Community and Landscape Coordinator to support outreach, planning, and on-the-ground work for a large-scale, ecological design project situated on private lands along the Brazos River and its tributaries. 

The Coastal Forested Wetlands Project will be focused on planting coastal forested wetlands along waterways in the Brazos River watershed, and will be primarily based in Prairie View, Texas. This project is being developed alongside partners at Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) and in collaboration with local landowners. This role blends community connection with ecological fieldwork and coordination—ideal for someone who loves working directly with people and land, and can help bring ambitious ideas to life.

The Community and Landscape Coordinator will play a central role in connecting with land stewards along the waterway, explaining the project, and inviting participation. You’ll help guide interested landowners through the sign-up process, track participation, and follow up to ensure they stay connected and informed.

This is also a field-based position that includes supporting baseline ecological measurements for project planning and potential future development of Payments for Ecosystem Services (PES). You’ll work closely with our team to develop tailored site plans with participating land stewards that align with evolving guidelines and requirements.

This position will also support our partners at PVAMU in development and coordination for a reforestation project near the PVAMU campus. The Community and Landscape Coordinator will help our partners as they develop their project, including creating a site and work plan that includes student involvement, helping with site evaluation and preparation, selecting nurseries, and helping to make a clear timeline from planting to project maturity. You will help facilitate student involvement on the campus and in the surrounding community.

• Contacting and communicating with land stewards along the waterway to explain the project and invite signups. 
• Tracking signups and following up with participants as needed.

Position Details

• Role is based in Prairie View, TX, with some potential for travel to other nearby locations.
• Fieldwork and landowner engagement required.
• Must have access to a vehicle. Mileage reimbursement available.
• We are hiring for a part-time position, with the potential for additional hours as needed. We’re flexible about the duration of the role and will shape it based on both project needs and the applicant’s circumstances. Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who is a strong fit for both the project and our organization. Compensation is $21–24 per hour, commensurate with experience.
• Conducting baseline ecological measurements for project planning and possible future PES development. This may include vegetation surveys, soil and erosion observations, and photo documentation.
• Support project planning & coordination with our broader team.  
• Collaborate with land stewards and our team to continue to develop relationships and resources for project participants, such as tailored site plans that meet our developing  PES guidelines, species selection and seedling sourcing, and planting procedures and maintenance planning.
• Assist our on-the-ground partners in developing a physical project at PVAMU. This may include restoration site prep, student volunteer recruitment and coordination, and event planning and management.

An ideal candidate will be someone who is:

• Skilled in community collaboration, outreach and relationship-building.
• Comfortable working outdoors in hot and dry conditions for extended times, able to lift 50 lbs and able to navigate uneven or loose terrain.
• Experienced in ecological data collection, including systematic field observation, geospatial analysis, and/or remote sensing.
• Detail-oriented and able to document site conditions effectively. Knowledge of data collection software such as ArcGis Suite or other GIS software such as Felt are a plus. A strong communicator who can effectively collaborate with scientists, land stewards, and project teams.
• Passionate about environmental work and knowledgeable about riparian ecosystems, Texas ecosystems, or reforestation.
