Purpose:
Stewards Individual Placements, a program of Conservation Legacy, provides individuals with service and career opportunities to strengthen communities and preserve our natural resources. The Community Volunteer Ambassador (CVA) Program combines the strength of a national leader in conservation service with the National Park Service to train emerging leaders to assist park units in building lasting connections to communities.
Padre Island National Seashore (PAIS) protects the longest stretch of undeveloped barrier island in the world. Located along the Gulf Coast of Texas, PAIS preserves a dynamic coastal ecosystem and offers opportunities for recreation, education, and conservation. The Division of Interpretation and Education leads the park’s volunteer program, which engages over 200 volunteers annually in roles ranging from sea turtle conservation to visitor services and beach cleanups. The park is committed to fostering a welcoming and community-connected volunteer program that reflects the varied communities of South Texas.
Padre Island National Seashore is seeking a motivated and community-minded individual to serve as a Community Volunteer Ambassador (CVA). This exciting position offers the opportunity to build leadership skills, foster community connections, and contribute to meaningful conservation efforts at one of the most unique coastal parks in the country.
The CVA will play a key role in expanding and enhancing the park’s volunteer program by developing new opportunities for public engagement and supporting long-term program sustainability. This is a dynamic, hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, organizing events, and making a lasting impact.
The CVA position will start on Monday, February 23, 2026 and run for 50 weeks until Friday, February 5, 2027.
