Conservation Internship

1. General Objective
The MRN Conservation Internship offers young professionals a comprehensive six-month experience that combines hands-on work, learning modules, and direct contributions to MRN’s three core programs: Birds, Habitat, and People.
The program aims to:
- Support the conservation of the Great Green Macaw and Scarlet Macaw.
- Contribute to the restoration of critical habitats.
- Strengthen community education and awareness.
- Train professionals with an interdisciplinary vision of conservation.
2. Internship Structure
- Duration: 6 months
- Participants: Minimum of 8 interns per cohort
Time distribution:
- 3 months at our Refuge and Breeding Center in Islita – Bird Program, located in the Northern Pacific of Costa Rica.
- 1 month in Sarapiquí (wild Great Green Macaws) – Bird Program, located in the Northern Caribbean of Costa Rica.
- 1 month at our Rainforest Reserve in Sarapiquí – Habitat Program, located in the Northern Caribbean of Costa Rica.
- 1 month in education and community engagement – People Program, located in the Northern Caribbean of Costa Rica.
