Salary Details The base salary range for this position is $70,800 - $123,300. Actual base salary is based on the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate.
Required Experience 2 - 6 years

The Conservation Planner assists in the reconnaissance, site acquisition, development, and entitlement of mitigation projects (i.e., permittee responsible mitigation-PRM, mitigation banks, In-Lieu Fee programs-ILFs, and turn keys) in the state of Tennessee. The position will require the ability to work closely with other disciplines within the office as well as with a variety of federal, state, and local resource agencies to achieve regional goals. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Works collaboratively with more senior planners developing mitigation plans, developing baseline information about potential sites, and analyzing property ecological and legal constraints.
  • Represents WES at trade conventions, conferences, and marketing events in association with senior staff.
  • Supports marketing and outreach efforts through technical material preparation.
  • Maintains project files.
  • Communicates effectively with clients, partners, and agency staff.
  • Learns independently and from other project team members about endangered species, soils, plants, and hydrology of a site in order to accurately portray the project in planning documents and in personal interactions with agencies.
  • Provides general office support.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Planning, Environmental Studies, Biology, Forestry, Landscape Architecture, or related field.
  • Five years experience related to stream and/or wetland restoration in the Southeastern U.S. Experience working with Nashville District USACE and TDEC is strongly preferred.
  • Good understanding of federal environmental laws and policies.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members of other disciplines.
  • Solid writing and reading skills. Experience in writing/developing mitigation documents preferred.
  • Previous GIS experience such as ArcMap, ArcGIS or QGIS preferred.
  • QHP certification and SQT experience preferred.
