Conservation Contracting, LLC is seeking part time, seasonal help. We are looking for a person to assist us primarily in our invasive species removal operations. As the job posting states, this is a PART TIME and SEASONAL position. The ideal candidate will have a flexible schedule and will be reasonably available when needed. Our work schedule is not based on standard office hours. Our schedule instead is determined by work demand, season of the year and weather. We often work long days when we are working. Some weeks the candidate may not be needed at all, the next week we may be working 40 hours per week. On average, the candidate can expect to work 8 to 16 hours per week April through August, and 16 to 24 hours per week September through March. We understand that with the uncertainty of the work schedule that this job is not for everyone. We are looking for a special local person with a flexible schedule who is looking for supplemental work. Applicant must understand that this is NOT a full time job at this time, and depending on their financial situation other work may be needed for them in addition to this position. We are willing to work around other work schedules for the right person. We are based out of Highland county but travel frequently to job-sites in other counties. Employee will be compensated for millage starting in Hillsboro, Ohio. Employee must have their own vehicle, with a 4wd vehicle preferred. The successful candidate will be a selfmotivated person who has a true passion for natural resources management and the outdoors. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • As needed, assist in eradication and removal of invasive woody and herbaceous species from client woodlots across southern and central Ohio using chainsaws and herbicides without direct supervision (safety gear provided)  
  • Maintain all gear used including chainsaws and sprayers 
  • Walk up and down steep and uneven terrain in all weather conditions including mud, snow, heat and cold 
  • Be able to identify both native and invasive vegetation 
  • Keep records and communicate with owner of company on progress of work 
  • Assist in carrying out and implementing all natural resources related management plans 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS 

  • Extensive chainsaw experience including operation, maintenance and safety 
  • Ability to measure proper chemical usage and comfortability around herbicides 
  • Physically capable of walking many miles (up to 10 miles or more per day) packing heavy gear in steep terrain and cold/hot weather. 
  • Must be in excellent physical shape to meet the physical demands of this job.  
  • Have own reliable vehicle to drive from one jobsite to the next- 4wd vehicle is preferred but not required  

Note: This position will require extensive use of a chainsaw in potentially dangerous situations without direct supervision. If you are not experienced with chainsaw use and cannot demonstrate or provide good references proving so, please do not apply. We will consider a chainsaw course certification in place of some experience. 

PREFERRED SKILLS 
Associates degree in forestry or wildlife management preferred, but not required. Chainsaw certification or previous professional chainsaw experience required. Plant (both invasive and native) identification skills required. Being comfortable applying herbicides is required.
