Job Title : Director of Conservation & Restoration
Reports To : Executive Director
Supervision : Director of Grant Management, 4 Regional Outreach Coordinators
Status : Full-time, Exempt

Role and Responsibilities : The Director of Conservation & Restoration will direct the strategy and implementation of IPC’s One Water Partnership, and other conservation & restoration efforts. The Director will be responsible for ensuring IPC’s programs and projects are aligned with the organization’s strategic goals, growing the program portfolio as needed to meet the goals of the organization, growing the funding needed to carry out this work, overseeing implementation of programming, and management of projects, staff, and subcontractors.

Strategic Alignment of Programs

1. Serve as a thought partner with the Executive Director in setting strategic programmatic direction for the One Water Partnership, and other conservation & restoration efforts
2. Evaluate the effectiveness of IPC’s conservation & restoration programs, and adaptively manage programs as needed to improve efficacy
3. Conceptualize, secure funding for, and implement programs/activities that achieve the vision and goals of the organizational strategic plan

Leadership of Programs

1. In collaboration with the Executive Director, Board, and other team members, delineate time-bound and measurable indicators of success for IPC's programs, and how these will be evaluated
2. Develop annual budgets for these programs and work plans for relevant staff
3. Secure grant and contract funding needed to carry out these programs, including developing proposals in collaboration with IPC team
4. Oversee financial reporting and invoicing for relevant grants and contracts
5. Supervise the tracking of program deliverables and monitor progress, ensuring compliance with grant and contract guidelines
6. Oversee programmatic financial planning/projections to ensure continuity of programs and to plan for staffing
7. Cultivate strong relationships with organizational partners and potential funders
8. Represent IPC and our programmatic success at conferences and public events
9. Assume management of special projects, as assigned

Leadership of Staff and Subcontractors

1. Supervise this program team, guiding their work to complete projects and grant or contract deliverables
2. Oversee administrative, budget, and personnel matters for direct reports, in collaboration with ED and Director of Operations and Finance
3. Lead and manage all contracts associated with this work, including technical partners, value-aligned partners, and other contractors to ensure consistency with grant deliverables and program goals

Position Requirements:

● Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred in relevant area of study.
● Five years of professional experience managing projects and teams which address conservation, restoration or leadership topics in this field. Two years of experience must include managing staff.
● Experience developing, managing, and evaluating a watershed-based conservation and/or restoration programs.
● Supervising staff who manage the funding of, and staff who manage the implementation of, conservation and restoration projects.
● Comfortable and effective when working with people of all backgrounds and faith traditions.
● Highly organized and efficient with attention to detail.
● Positive “can-do” attitude, willing to learn new skills, and troubleshoot problems.
● Ability to work independently/remotely, as well as part of a team.
● Tech savvy with an aptitude for learning new technology or platforms.
● Reliable transportation to travel to/from the Annapolis office weekly on Tuesdays, as well as throughout Maryland, DC, and Lancaster County PA as needed for site visits and events.
● Ability to work evenings or weekends at times, as site visits or events may occur during evening or weekend hours.

Compensation : $75,000-$80,000 starting annual salary. Includes paid vacation and holidays, medical and dental benefits (employer and employee cost-share), and a monthly cell phone stipend for use of personal cell phone. Work-related travel beyond the office is reimbursed at the prevailing IRS reimbursement rate.
