This position serves as a member of Tourism’s senior management team, reporting to the agency secretary, and is responsible for leading the Office of Outdoor Recreation within the Wisconsin Department of Tourism (WDT). This position will be responsible for creating and executing the vision and mission of the Office and developing processes, procedures and structures whereby industry stakeholders can convene, engage and implement economic growth and collaboration activities for the broader success of Wisconsin's outdoor recreation industry. 

This position will direct the Office of Outdoor Recreation by setting strategic priorities, coordinating internal and external partnerships, and shaping policies that support sustainable outdoor recreation. The manager of Outdoor Recreation has the authority to commit agency resources to accomplish goals and objectives to ensure an industry recognized program. This position will develop and lead a high-performing team by fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and results driven work environment.  

The Office of Outdoor Recreation will leverage Wisconsin's rich outdoor heritage and abundant natural resources to support, uplift and build Wisconsin's outdoor recreation industry as a primary driver of tourism. The Office will align key state government agencies, nonprofit organizations, local representatives of the public sector and private sector industry partners around its mission of supporting and uplifting the outdoor recreation industry and its partners for the economic health and overall well-being of the state and its residents.
