Boise, Idaho
Title: Easement Coordinator (Partner Conservationist)
Location: Boise, Idaho
Status: Full-time, Exempt – currently funded through July 2027 with option to extend through 2028 and beyond
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week
Reports to: NRCS Assistant State Conservationist for Programs (and Foresight CEO)
Travel: Regular in-state field travel (up to 25%)
Start Date: January 2026
Position Summary:
Acting as embedded partner staff, the Easement Coordinator will play a critical role in supporting the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) easement program in Idaho during a period of transition and reorganization. NRCS holds more than 150 conservation easements across the state, protecting over 100,000 acres of wetlands, floodplains and wildlife habitat through ACEP and legacy programs. Managing and restoring these easements is essential to safeguarding long-term ecological outcomes and maintaining compliance with federal requirements.
The program is complex, compliance-driven and currently faces a significant backlog of restoration and monitoring activities. The Easement Coordinator will serve as the central organizer and problem-solver, bringing structure, clarity and momentum to a distributed team that is redefining roles and responsibilities.
This is a high-level project management position requiring exceptional organizational skills, the ability to manage competing deadlines and the capacity to coordinate work across staff and partners without direct supervisory authority. The successful candidate will be a proactive communicator, detail-oriented record keeper and a strategic thinker capable of navigating ambiguity while ensuring program requirements are met. While technical expertise in conservation easements or ecological restoration is an advantage, the strongest candidates will be those who thrive in complex environments, excel at relationship management, and can turn a challenging situation into an opportunity for progress.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Coordinate Easement Restoration and Acquisition Activities
Serve as the central point of coordination for NRCS wetland conservation easement programs in Idaho, with a primary focus on restoration of U.S.-held easements and support for easement acquisition.
Project and Workflow Management

Ensuring progress toward program goals and deadlines. Help address program backlogs and bring structure to a distributed and evolving team environment.
Bridge Across Field Offices
Connect and support distributed staff by clarifying roles, identifying resource needs and ensuring consistency in processes across NRCS field offices.
Problem-Solving and Gap Identification
Proactively identify barriers, gaps, or inefficiencies in program delivery. Collaborate with NRCS staff, partners and contractors to develop and implement solutions.
Collaboration and Relationship Management
Work closely with NRCS leadership, field staff and partner organizations to advance program delivery. Support outcomes by coordinating tasks with staff who may not be under direct supervision.
Documentation and Compliance
Ensure easement records, restoration plans and acquisition documents are accurate, complete and compliant with federal policies and Farm Bill program requirements for U.S. held Easements.
Outreach and Communication
Communicate program updates, opportunities and requirements to NRCS staff, landowners and partner organizations. Represent the program in meetings and outreach events.
Support Monitoring and Reporting
Assist in scheduling and coordinating monitoring of wetland easements, and compile program data to inform state and national reporting requirements.
Continuous Improvement
Maintain awareness of evolving program guidance, tools and best practices. Recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of easement management.
