Duties:

  • Design and implement education programs and services for delivery to children, adults, and teachers year round
  • Develop and present summer camp sessions every summer.
  • Assist with Maple syrup production/must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Work with other departments of the Foundation for programming needs and development
  • Interaction with members through programs, functions and meetings
  • Create educational teaching materials and exhibits as instructed
  • Serve as a secondary instructor for Hunter Education classes
  • Lead all Scout programs
  • Manage Eagle Scout projects as needed
  • Design products to market educational programs such as brochures and flyers
  • Work weekends and evenings as needed
  • Assist with administrative aspects of the program scheduling and planning
  • Assist with land restoration activities and trail maintenance
  • Perform other duties, related to the Foundation in general, as assigned or necessary

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in conservation education, science education, environmental science, wildlife biology, ecology, natural resources or related field

EXPERIENCE

  • At least two years’ experience in education
  • Strong background in Midwest natural history and conservation issues
  • Knowledge and support of hunting and fishing
  • Experience developing creative conservation educational programs and curriculum
  • Experience working with schools, scouts, volunteers and seasonal staff
  • Certified Hunter Education Instructor or willing to obtain within 1 year of hire
  • Certified Archery Instructor or willing to obtain within 1 year of hire
  • Willing to become a Boy Scout Merit Badge Counselor
  • Possess CPR and First Aid certification or willing to obtain
  • Strong public relation skills (teachers, adults, children)
  • Solid writing and computer skills (proficient in Microsoft Word)
  • Ability to manage time and meet deadlines for projects
  • Ability to work well on a team as well as be self-directed
  • Flexible and willing to perform all duties as directed including weekend and evening work; ability to handle changes in daily work schedule: weather, student actions and last minute program modifications
