Title: Education Intern
Summary:
Carolina Waterfowl Rescue is seeking a creative and enthusiastic Education Intern to support both youth and adult wildlife education programs throughout the summer. This hybrid role combines hands-on teaching at a nature center and community outreach sites with remote content creation and program planning. Interns will help deliver summer camps for children (elementary through middle school), serve as guest educators at partner camps, and develop engaging educational materials using Canva and other creative tools. This position is ideal for someone passionate about conservation, education, and connecting people of all ages with wildlife through meaningful, accessible learning experiences.

What you will do:
- Assist with planning and leading summer day camps held at a nature center
- Teach children (elementary through middle school) about wildlife, conservation, and respect for animals through:
- Interactive lessons and outdoor exploration
- Games, crafts, and hands-on activities
- Support off-site outreach programs as a guest educator at partner camps, schools, and community programs
- Help develop educational materials for children and adults, including:
- Lesson visuals, activity guides, and presentations
- Games, worksheets, and hands-on learning tools
- Use Canva and other creative technology to design:
- Camp and outreach materials
- Educational handouts and visuals
- Simple presentations and educational content
- Assist with preparation and organization of education supplies and materials
- Support staff educators during animal ambassador programs
- Adapt content for multiple audiences, including:
- Children
- Families and adult learners
- Some content creation, planning, and design work may be completed remotely, while program delivery will take place on-site or off-site

- Creative and excited to design engaging educational content
- Proficient in Canva (experience with other creative or educational tools is a plus)
- Energetic, adaptable, and flexible with changing schedules
- Organized and able to balance on-site and remote work
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- A clear, confident communicator and collaborative team member
- Open to learning animal education and safety protocols (training provided)

- Position Type: Part-time, seasonal internship (hybrid)
- Schedule: Approximately 20 hours per week
- Hours may fluctuate depending on camp and outreach schedules; some weeks may be lighter, while others may require additional hours
- Duration: Summer (dates flexible)
- Location: Combination of on-site work (nature center, rescue campus, outreach locations) and remote work for content development
- Some evenings and weekends may be required
- Includes both indoor and outdoor responsibilities
- Must be able to stand, walk, and engage with groups for extended periods
- Tetanus vaccination required
