Program Summary:
Appalachian Conservation Corps (ACC) works to connect young people to critical conservation service work across Appalachia and neighboring communities in Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Maryland, DC, and Pennsylvania. As a corps program, ACC partners with public land managers to identify, plan and complete projects that improve public access, habitat quality and economic development. ACC is a program of Conservation Legacy, a nationwide network of conservation service organizations founded to move forward the legacy of the Civilian Conservation Corps.
Position Summary:
Supports ACC through the selection, onboarding, and engagement of program participants while maintaining grant compliance.
Outcomes & Functions of Position:
Participant Engagement
- Lead the creation and management of professional development workshops and opportunities including resume building, cover letter writing, Public Land Corps hiring authority, etc.
- Coordinate and execute seasonal crew member graduations.
- Monitor and compile reports on trainings, certifications, and other educational opportunities completed by program participants during and after their terms with ACC.
- Create, update, and utilize a list of alumni to share opportunities and track post term updates.
- Assist with the implementation of member trainings as needed.
Human Resources
- Receive and review applications, conduct interviews, check references, and select candidates for crew program positions.
- Lead the process of participant onboarding, and ensure the timely enrollment, tracking, and exiting of program participants using current onboarding software (Salesforce, Axiom).
- Ensure that timely communications are being sent to the applicants regarding the status and completion of onboarding and exiting procedures.
- Manage files and databases related to program participants to ensure compliance with funders, as well as state, federal and internal policies.
- Maintain standards of strict confidentiality with respect to all matters and documents.
- Assist with outreach and attend in-person recruitment events as needed.
Administration
- Generate program reports, create presentations, develop brochures and flyers, document meeting minutes, and conduct research.
- Participates in ACC staff meetings and other collaborative team meetings as needed.
- Performs a variety of other administrative duties as required to ensure efficient office operations for ACC.
Organizational Advocacy
- Successfully engages, leads and supports a positive work environment for all within the organization and the communities we serve.
- Leads and/or participates in organizational-wide teams, projects and initiatives that support the work of the Strategic Plans goals.
- Reports any potential complaints within the organization as identified in the Personnel Policy Manual.
- Assists or leads other responsibilities, as assigned.
