Baltimore City Recreation and Parks (BCRP) is seeking an experienced Environmental Inspector Supervisor to lead the Integrated Vegetation Management (IVM) Program within the Forestry Division. This position plays a critical role in overseeing post-construction ecological restoration efforts tied to major capital projects led by the Department of Public Works (DPW).
The ideal candidate brings strong field experience, expertise in vegetation management, and the ability to supervise inspectors and contractors while coordinating across multiple City agencies.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Administration
- Lead and administer the City’s Integrated Vegetation Management (IVM) of sites impacted by infrastructure projects
- Manage vendor contracts, procurement, scheduling, and budget tracking.
- Oversee IVM maintenance projects funded by enterprise utilities.
- Use land management software to track treatments and produce reports.
Field Inspection & Compliance
- Conduct and supervise field inspections to ensure adherence to IVM plans and NRC Procedure requirements.
- Assess vegetative conditions and recommend management actions (Monitor, Stabilize, Rebound, Intensive, etc.).
- Provide technical support during DPW construction warranty periods and oversee post-warranty treatments.
- Ensure compliance with ANSI vegetation management standards.
Supervision & Coordination
- Supervise environmental inspectors and/or contracted staff.
- Coordinate with DPW, consultants, contractors, and community organizations.
- Represent BCRP in interagency and public meetings related to vegetation management.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare and submit inspection reports supporting stormwater, wetland, and floodplain permit requirements.
- Document IVM performance and maintain long-term treatment records (up to 10 years).
- Prepare annual budgets, cost estimates, and program evaluations.
