The reporting location for this position is at Ocotillo Wells SVRA, located at 5172 Highway 78, Borrego Springs, CA 92004. Under the supervision of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory), the incumbent will serve as a lead in natural resources management projects, planning, and stewardship throughout the district.

The Environmental Scientist will take a lead role in developing, implementing, and reporting district projects and plans related to vegetation management and restoration. The incumbent will perform a range of duties including site visits and environmental monitoring, conducting biological reviews of internal and external projects, managing data, supporting department and district natural resources initiatives, and performing general administration of district’s natural resources program.

Minimum Requirements: Possession of a bachelor's or advanced degree with a major in a biological, chemical, physical, or environmental science, soil science, water science, hydrology, agronomy, natural resource science, environmental or public health, physical geography, or a closely related scientific discipline. (Admission to a masters or doctoral degree program in a biological, chemical, physical, or environmental science, soil science, water science, hydrology, agronomy, natural resource science, environmental or public health, physical geography, or a closely related scientific discipline shall be considered to meet these education qualifications.) 

Other Requirements: The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment. Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.
