FEDERAL GRANT ADMINISTRATOR(S) – Position# K0229961 & K0237332
This unclassified, full-time position is located in the Fiscal Section and will be housed in the Office of the Secretary in Topeka, KS.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinates the planning, preparation and submission of grant proposals and reports to federal granting agencies.
- Receives project narratives from divisions and grant coordinators; coordinates with staff to compile and submit complete and accurate application packages.
- Provides technical assistance to staff in drafting and editing application narratives as needed.
- Adapts to evolving federal grant programs, agency priorities, and staffing changes by managing assigned grants as programs develop or shift.
- Ensures full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and KDWP regulations; identifies and recommends corrective actions as necessary.
- Monitors and inspects grant compliance of real property, equipment and activities. This requires travel to KDWP offices and project sites.
- Monitors and reconciles Federal expenditures to ensure costs are allowable and allocable.
- Assists in the development of training materials for KDWP staff related to grant management and reporting compliance and conducts training sessions on processes, procedures, and reporting requirements.
- Monitors and ensures grant sub-recipients (third party agreements) comply with federal requirements to receive and use grant funds awarded by or through KDWP.
- Coordinates and monitors sub-award documents, contracts, MOUs, and any other grant documents which may include verification of any required audits, record keeping capability, past compliance review, etc. as required by state or federal regulations and Department standards.
- Maintains current versions of standard operating procedures and templates, recommending updates as needed
- and maintains knowledge of grant funding policies, regulations and procedures.
- Assists as needed with reporting requirements required for Federal Grants by the Federal Government and State of Kansas Office of Accounts & Reports.
- Assists with coordination activities related to the agency’s indirect cost rate proposal and annual license certifications.
- Supports internal and external audits by compiling documentation and coordinating with internal staff.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Three years of experience in examining financial records and controls to assess accuracy of records and compliance with statutes, regulations, and professional/legal standards.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to pass a background check are required.
