This role offers the opportunity to apply your technical expertise, leadership abilities, and collaborative skills to advance project management efforts that support the restoration and construction of fish and wildlife infrastructure and facilities.

As a key member of the team, you will coordinate, direct, and oversee the planning, scheduling, cost control, and execution of complex construction projects.

You will also lead and mentor entry and journey level project coordinators, while managing partnerships with external design firms to guide the development of project designs and specifications.

What to Expect-
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Construction Project Coordinator will, 

Manage Projects: 

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project objectives, and scope.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, including forecasting costs and ensuring cost control throughout the project.
  • Assemble technical team to identify the necessary project components, which may include purchasing, surveying, drafting, engineering, permitting, cultural, construction methods, and contracting.
  • Solicit, hire, and manage any necessary external architecture and engineering support.
  • Develop the construction documents and coordinate the review process for construction approval.
  • Ensure all necessary permits and approvals are obtained before project initiation and maintained throughout the project.
  • Oversee public works and in-house projects to ensure that project scope aligns with expectations and that the projects adhere to the established schedule and budget.
  • Direct and evaluate the work of public work contractors. 
  • Provide consistent and substantive communication with all stakeholders throughout the duration of all assigned projects.

Minor Works Category Lead:

  • Oversee the review, development, assignment, and management of projects categories such as capitol funded minor works, RCO, FEMA and other related categories. 
  • Develop, assign, and review the work of entry-level and journey-level construction project coordinators.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and guidance to professional and technical staff.

Construction Site Inspector:

  • Oversee daily operations at the construction site, ensuring safety and compliance with construction codes, standards, and contract documents.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to assess progress, quality, and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Maintain daily logs and supplement inspection records with photographs. 

Working Conditions: 

Work setting, including hazards: 

  • Combination of in office and field work. 
  • Fieldwork involves travel to and from field sites, often requiring work in outdoor conditions, including inclement weather and difficult terrain such as deep snow, slippery rocks, steep banks, and sticky mud. 
  • This position may involve working in or near water, including tasks that require navigating, negotiating, and performing duties related to water environments. 
  • Ability to walk over rough terrain. 

Schedule: Typically, Monday - Friday, 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M., 40 hours per week.  May include occasional evening or weekend work as needed. Alternative schedules may be considered based on business needs.

Travel Requirements: Travel is required throughout the State for up to a week at a time.

Tools and Equipment: Computer hardware and software, video conferencing equipment, testing equipment materials and motor vehicles.

Customer Interactions: Frequent interactions varying between Federal, Local, Inter-Agency, and Intra-Agency customers and vendors.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, building construction, or closely related field, 

And

Four (4) years of professional construction project management experience

Or 

Equivalent education/experience.  

Certifications/Licenses:
Valid Driver’s License 

Special Requirements/Conditions of Employment:
Successful completion of agency training and/or certification per supervisory direction, position need, and training availability.

Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the required qualifications, our ideal applicant will possess one or more of the following:

Proficient in the fundamentals of structural, mechanical, electrical, water systems, and construction for the convenience, comfort, efficiency, safety, accessibility, administrative procedures and systems relating to capital projects.

Experience in/with: 

  • Bluebeam Revu.
  • Microsoft computer software including Excel, Word, Outlook etc.
  • Leading staff managing public works and in-house staff projects.
  • Cost estimation, construction processes and inspections, as well as project management.
  • Hands-on construction experience acquired through employment with a licensed contractor.
  • The principles and practices of project management for design.
  • Construction standards and practices including construction scheduling, building codes, cost estimating, cost control, environmental and construction permitting and public works policies and procedures.
  • Assuring goal measurement, progress reporting, and meeting budget expectations. 
  • Ensuring the timely completion of projects within budgetary constraints, established guidelines and maintaining accurate and up-to-date logs of activities related to assigned projects.
