This position is located at the Bennington Fish Culture Station, located two miles from downtown Bennington. The Bennington Fish Culture Station is Vermont’s largest fish culture station. The facility operates on surface water and rears and stocks approximately 80,000 pounds of coldwater fish annually. This facility rears brook, brown, and rainbow trout for stocking public waters throughout Vermont.
This position is responsible for the oversight of all facility operations, administration, meeting regulatory requirements, fish production objectives, fish health and biosecurity needs, and public outreach. This position is also responsible for the personnel supervision of three permanent employees.

The successful applicant would be required to live in on-site housing. Weekend rotational assignments can be expected, as well as occasional holiday coverage. The successful applicant would be expected to provide emergency off-hours coverage and be compensated through a 20% guaranteed overtime payment provision. The state of Vermont has a 15-step pay grade system, which can be found at the Vermont Human Resources website, along with all benefit information. This position is classified as Pay Grade 25. Additionally, the successful applicant must obtain a pesticide applicator's license and CPR certification within six months of hire.
Salary = $64,313 Annually, as well as an additional 20% VSEA Collective Bargaining Agreement Guaranteed Overtime Payment Provision ($12,862 annually) (Vermont Paygrade 25, Step 1)
Total Salary = $77,176 Annually
Minimum Qualifications are listed on the website, and include the options of a Bachelor's degree in fish culture or a natural resources field and four (4) years or more of experience in the propagation and culture of food or game fish and one (1) year or more of supervisory experience, or five (5) years or more experience in the propagation and culture of food or game fish AND one (1) year or more of supervisory experience.
