Organization Profile:

The Intervale Center seeks a Food Access Intern to join the Food Hub team. For over 35 years, the Intervale Center has led a community food revolution that sustains farms, land, and people. We manage hundreds of acres of land and have pioneered farm and food innovations like farm business incubation, commercial composting, riparian restoration, gleaning, and food hub development. Today, the Intervale Center is home to a conservation nursery, farm business services, a food hub, and a land stewardship program. To learn more, visit intervale.org.

Our Food Access program believes that every Vermonter should have access to fresh, local food, and that this access is vital to a vibrant community food system. The Intervale Center has operated a gleaning program in Chittenden County since 2011, capturing surplus produce from local farms and redistributing it for free to our community. Since 2020, the Intervale Center has also maintained a volunteer-powered community food production space called the People’s Farm, which grows produce that goes directly to our Fair Share distributions. Through our CSA-style Fair Share program, we provide gleaned, grown, purchased, and donated produce to 350 families each week, July through October.
