About Us

The Redwood Forest Foundation, Inc. (RFFI) is the nonprofit owner of the Usal Redwood Forest, the largest working community forest in America. We are pioneering a Smart Forest model that integrates sustainable forestry, advanced technology, and community partnerships to restore ecosystems, strengthen local economies, and build resilience against climate change. Our work is rooted in collaboration with tribal partners, who provide cultural knowledge and stewardship practices essential to the land’s healing and future.

We seek an experienced Corporate Grant Writer to secure transformational funding—ranging from hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars annually—from corporate foundations, major philanthropies, and government agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Research, identify, and cultivate high-value funding opportunities, with an emphasis on corporate foundations and large-scale philanthropy.
  • Develop compelling grant proposals, case statements, and LOIs that communicate RFFI’s leadership in community-based forestry, Smart Forest innovation, and tribal engagement.
  • Build and steward relationships with foundation program officers, corporate CSR leaders, and philanthropic networks.
  • Collaborate with leadership, program, and finance staff to create persuasive narratives and accurate multi-year budgets.
  • Manage the grant cycle end-to-end: pipeline development, deadline tracking, proposal submission, and reporting.
  • Support fundraising strategies aligned with RFFI’s mission and long-term financial sustainability.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of professional grant writing experience, with a strong record of securing six- and seven-figure awards.
  • Proven success in cultivating and securing funding from corporate foundations and large private philanthropies.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and persuasive communication skills.
  • Strong project management and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Experience with complex budgets and federal grant platforms preferred.
  • Forestry, conservation, climate, or tribal engagement background a plus but not required.
