Grounds and Restoration Technician

Appalachian Headwaters is a non-profit organization focusing on ecological restoration, native plants, pollinators, and environmental education (www.appheadwaters.org). We are seeking a full-time (40 hours/week), year-round, grounds and restoration crew member to join our team this spring. This position will be based at our 150-acre site near Lewisburg, West Virginia.

The primary responsibilities for this role will include invasive plant removal, helping to plant and maintain native gardens and other plantings, trail building and maintenance, equipment maintenance, cleaning facilities, general landscaping, greenhouse work and other jobs as they arise.  

Work requires a significant level of physicality (ability to lift 50lbs and ability to traverse uneven terrain is a must) and experience operating chainsaws, hedge trimmers, tillers, tractors, and other grounds equipment.

Additional requirements include:

  • A valid driver's license. 
  • Good mechanical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to interact with the public.
  • Previous experience in landscape restoration or farming is preferred.

Payrate is $20-25/hour depending on experience. Benefits include 10 paid annual sick days, 10 paid company holidays, and an optional 401(k) retirement savings plan. A background check is required.
