Groundsperson Hand Cut/Pile

Our hand crews will support fuels‑reduction project on the Tahoe National Forest. Working under the direction of project supervisors, groundspersons will use chainsaws and hand tools to thin trees and brush, limb residual trees, and construct burn piles. Physically demanding work in steep terrain.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating chainsaws and performing manual fuels‑reduction or similar forestry work; ability to maintain saws and sharpen chains.
- Knowledge of hand‑piling standards and wildland fuel‑management practices.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and fire‑plan compliance; ability to carry and use fire‑suppression tools.
- Physical fitness and stamina to hike steep slopes, carry heavy loads and work long days in remote, variable weather.
- Ability to follow detailed prescriptions and select leave trees based on species priority and tree condition.
- First‑Aid/CPR certification and chainsaw safety certification (e.g., S‑212) preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to the project site.
