Position:
The Hawk Walk Guide role is part of a cohesive team building towards a working, educational bird-on-the-glove experience. This is a part-time position reporting to the Director of Nature Education and Conservation with working hours that include weekend days. The person in this role should have a love for birds of prey and be experienced in their care, be a general licensed falconer, and be skilled at presenting bird of prey programs to the public.

Earthplace is a center for nature discovery and environmental learning whose purpose is to build passion and respect for the natural world. Our programs blend science, nature conservation, and education into pathways for experiencing and learning: for young children we use discovery and fun to build awareness and connection to the outdoors; for school age youth we promote learning through science and understanding of the role humans play in our ecosystems; and for all ages we encourage individual growth and actions that can lead to a more sustainable community.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Shared responsibility for acquisition and daily care of Harris Hawks, including feeding, weighing, and cleaning;
- Sponsorship of Apprentice Falconer;
- Shared planning and execution of Hawk Walk programs;
- Back-up responsibilities for animal care as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies or related field preferred
- General Falconer License is a must
- This is an hourly, non-exempt position with the potential to become a full-time position with benefits.
